Legion of the Damned: Feel the blade

God damn! Now this is how you start a fucking year. With brutality, aggression, pissed-offness and violence. Fucking VIOLENCE.
Before you read anything else, a quick disclaimer. This is actually a re-release of Occult’s “Elegy for the Weak”. Now, I don’t give a fuck about this being a re-release or not, because it’s fucking good, and the original was never reviewed for GD anyway, so fuck that.
I love everything about Legion of the Damned, even though I don’t recall listening to any albums of them before. It’s thrash, it’s death, it’s necrocannibalistic vomitorium. No, I don’t know where that just came from.
KILL, KILL, KILL. That’s third track “Slaughtering the Pigs” racking my brain right now. I feel like going outside in the cold with a Rambo knife and butchering the first little kid I find. Yes, little kid, because a teenager upwards would be too difficult, would put up a fight, I’m lazy etc.
Anyway, concerning what really matters. Apart from the blatant thrash and death sound of the album, there’s also a healthy dose of black metal hatred thrown in here, which I also think is very beneficial to the atmosphere. Overall, “Feel the Blade” is fucking fast and furious, but it has some mid-tempo ravage her pussy slowly moments that are so filled with grit that it even makes the music more aggressive. This is impressive shit.
There’s some great lyrics and song titles going on here as well; How can you not fall in love with “Slut of Sodom”, “Disturbing the Dead” and the afore-mentioned “Slaughtering of the Pigs”? I think this is how everyone should wake up in the morning.
I had my doubts concerning 2008. 2007 had such a beauty of good, brutally heavy albums (Vomitory, Gorefest, Anaal etc.), that it was only natural to expect a gay year to follow up. Au contraire, my closet faggot friends, if every album comes out as naugthy and obnoxious as this one, we’re saved. Praise the Lord (K)!
The cover: Stunningly beautiful. A little kid with a knife, who apparently just killed someone (hopefully his mother) in the bathtub. Lots of blood too. I’ll have to rethink the whole little kids not fighting back bit.
